Bar Cooler Warm Before Happy Hour? Bar Refrigeration Repair in Metro Atlanta
Back-bar coolers, bottle coolers, direct-draw keg coolers and glass chillers in bars, breweries, restaurants and hotels across the Atlanta metro.
A bar cooler has a short, loud life. It sits under the bar top, three feet from the dish machine and the ice well, and gets kicked, slammed and opened hundreds of times a night. Bartenders reach in without looking. When it starts to lose its chill, the first sign isn't an alarm; it's a guest sending back a beer that isn't cold, or a bartender grabbing bottles from the reach-in in the kitchen.
EmergencyFridgeRepair.com repairs commercial bar refrigeration for bars, restaurants, breweries and hotels across Atlanta. Call (770) 334-4410 — a person answers 24/7 — or use the form on this page. We offer same- or next-day visits, and we'll give you the earliest real time when you call.

What Bartenders Tell Us
- "The bottles feel cool, not cold." The cooler is running but losing ground: a condenser packed with lint and sticky syrup, a weak condenser fan or a door gasket torn at the corner.
- "It's cold at the bottom and warm at the top." Bottles crammed against the evaporator cover block the airflow, or the evaporator fan has slowed.
- "The sliding lids on the bottle cooler won't seal." Lid tracks fill with broken glass, bottle caps and spilled drinks, and warped lids leave gaps the whole length of the cooler.
- "The doors keep swinging open on their own." A cooler knocked out of level by a kick or a mop bucket, a worn hinge or a broken door closer.
- "There's a sheet of ice on the back wall." Warm, humid bar air gets in every time a door opens. A defrost cycle that isn't clearing the coil lets ice build until cooling stops.
- "The keg cooler is warm and the beer is foaming." Draft beer needs steady cold. A warm direct-draw cooler, a failed fan or a frozen coil is a refrigeration problem we repair. Dirty draft lines and the wrong gas pressure also cause foam, and those belong to your draft line service.
- "The glass chiller stopped frosting." Glass frosters run very cold and frost heavily. A failed defrost or a coil caked with ice stops the frosting.
- "Water is running onto the floor mats behind the bar." A clogged drain, an overflowing condensate pan or a cracked drain tube.
How We Handle a Bar Cooler Call
Before we arrive. Tell us the type of cooler (swing-door, sliding-door, bottle well or keg cooler), the make and model from the data plate, the temperature you're reading and when the bar opens. Knowing your hours helps us pick a window that makes sense.
Diagnosis. The technician measures product and air temperatures, cleans and inspects the condenser, checks both fans, the controller and probe, the defrost, the start components and the compressor, then looks at gaskets, hinges, lids, closers and the drain. If the cooler has to slide out, we check the cord and drain as it moves.
Your decision. You get a plain explanation of what failed and what the repair takes before we install anything.
Repair and pull-down. Genuine or OEM-approved parts go in, and we watch the cooler start to recover before leaving. If a part needs ordering, we tell you which one and book the return. Bar cooler repairs are covered for up to 6 months on parts and labor.
Keeping the Bar Going Until We Get There
- Move draft-sensitive and perishable items first — cut fruit, dairy for cocktails, juices and syrups.
- Pull the kick plate or clear the front grille so the cooler can breathe. Unplug it before brushing the grille.
- Fill an ice bath in a bus tub or a sink for the bottles you'll sell tonight.
- Shut lids and doors firmly, and ask staff to grab what they need in one opening.
- Check the outlet and breaker. Bar equipment often shares circuits, and a tripped breaker is a quick fix.
- Write down the display reading and any alarm before anyone resets the controller.
Simple Care That Helps Bar Coolers Last
- Brush the condenser grille every few weeks; bars build up lint and sugar faster than kitchens.
- Wipe gaskets and lid tracks at close so dried drinks don't tear the seals.
- Keep bottles off the evaporator cover and leave space for air to move.
- Check the level after the bar floor is mopped or the cooler is moved.
- Empty and clean the bottle well regularly so caps and glass don't jam the lids.
Bar Refrigeration We Repair
- Back-bar coolers with one, two or three swing or sliding doors, solid or glass.
- Bottle coolers with sliding or flip-up lids.
- Direct-draw keg coolers — the refrigeration side of the cooler; draft line cleaning and gas setup stay with your draft service.
- Glass chillers and frosters.
- Narrow and undercounter bar coolers for wine, mixers and garnishes.
- Self-contained back-bar coolers in hotels, event venues and stadium suites.
We service self-contained commercial refrigeration units (5 lbs of refrigerant or less) per EPA Section 608 Type I requirements. We do not service walk-in coolers or remote/rack refrigeration systems.
Repair or Replace a Bar Cooler?
Fans, controllers, probes, start parts, hinges, closers, lids, gaskets and drain parts are all routine replacements. A compressor can often be changed too. Replacing the cooler makes more sense when the cabinet is rusting from years of spills, the insulation is wet or the sealed system fails on an old, basic unit. We'll lay out both options and let you decide.

Emergency FAQ
Bar Cooler Repair FAQ
What temperature should a back-bar cooler hold?
Most bars keep bottled beer around the mid- to upper 30s. If the cooler also holds juices, dairy or cut fruit, those need 41°F or below under the FDA Food Code.
Why is my back-bar cooler warm only on busy nights?
It's working near its limit, so heavy door traffic tips it over. A dirty condenser, a weak fan or a worn gasket is the usual reason it has no margin left.
My draft beer is foaming. Is that the cooler?
It can be. A keg cooler running warm causes foam, and we repair that. Dirty lines or the wrong gas pressure cause foam too, and those are handled by your draft line service.
Do you repair glass frosters?
Yes, including the defrost system and the controls.
How often should a bar cooler condenser be cleaned?
Every few weeks in a busy bar. Sugar and lint build up fast. Unplug the cooler first.
Can you work around our opening hours?
Tell us your hours when you book. We offer same- or next-day windows, and you choose the one that suits the bar.
Is an older bar cooler worth fixing?
Often. Most bar cooler parts are replaceable. If the cabinet is rusting through, we'll tell you plainly.
Do bar cooler repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. The parts we install and our labor are covered for up to 6 months.
